![]() In fact, the show pokes fun at dating simulator games enough to make it laughable and enjoyable. While perhaps an odd twist from expectation (by playing to the cliché wholeheartedly), I can honestly appreciate the strange, yet straightforward premise. The curious part is that it’s stated pretty bluntly that the protagonist (Shido) actually has to go out on a date with these female characters, make them fall in love with him, and kiss them, and thus seal their power. The premise of the show is a standard fantasy-harem setup: A male protagonist has special powers with which he can save other female main characters, who also have special powers that are highly destructive and/or threaten mankind. I read up a little on her and the premise of the show she stars in, Date A Live, and armed with nothing but Hulu and time, set out to discover what was up with this anime series. I first saw a reference to this anime in a meme I saw depicting the character Kurumi. Guess who’s the protagonist? You’ll never get it.
